How Window Treatment Pricing Has Changed in Las Vegas in the Last 20 Years
How Window Treatment Pricing Has Changed in Las Vegas in the Last 20 Years.
If you bought blinds in Las Vegas in 2005 and you’re buying them again in 2026, you’re not shopping in the same market at all. The price tag has changed, but more importantly, what you’re actually paying for has changed completely.
Here’s how we got here:
2004 - 2007: The Builder-Grade Boom
During the housing boom, window treatments in Las Vegas were an afterthought. Most homes came with standard 2-inch faux-wood blinds or cheap vertical blinds over sliding doors. They were included by the builder or bought for $25-$60 per window at a big box store.
Custom was custom. If you wanted real wood shutters, Roman shades, or motorization, you paid a true luxury price - often $400-$800 per window installed. It was a status item. Motorization was rare, loud, and required hard-wiring by an electrician, so it added hundreds per window.
The average homeowner spent very little, because the focus was on granite and tile, not windows.
2008 - 2014: The Recession Reset
When the market crashed, so did the Las Vegas window treatment spending. Construction stopped. People kept what they had. Prices on basic products actually dropped as retailers competed for fewer customers.
This is when two big shifts happened.
1. Imported materials flooded in. Bamboo and woven wood shades that used to be boutique became widely available at half the price.
2. Cordless and child-safety laws changed manufacturing. The old cheap corded blinds were phased out, which raised the floor price of even the cheapest blind from $25 to $50, but made everything safer.
Custom shutters remained popular in Las Vegas because they add resale value, but discount installers made them much more competitive. A full house of shutters that was $8,000 in 2006 could be found for $4,500 in 2011.
2015 - 2019: The Design Shift.
Las Vegas homes started to modernize. Gray replaced beige, and everyone wanted that clean, modern look: roller shades, sheer shades, and cellular shades instead of heavy window shutters.
Pricing split into two tiers.
- Off-the-shelf: Still cheap, $60-$120 per window, but better looking.
- Custom-fit: This became the new standard. Las Vegas has so many large windows, sliding doors, and odd sizes that cut-to-fit doesn’t work well. Custom measuring for those Las Vegas blinds, which used to be a luxury upcharge, became expected. So the average amount people paid per house went up, not because each blind was more expensive, but because people were covering more windows with a better product.
Motorization started to get affordable with battery-powered motors. What used to be a $300 per window add-on became $100-$150.
2020 - 2026: The Perfect Storm.
This is where pricing really jumped.
1. Supply chain and materials: From 2020 to 2022, fabric, aluminum, and wood components doubled or tripled in shipping cost. A roller shade fabric that cost $8 per yard to import in 2019 was $18-$22 in 2021. Those costs have come back down about 70% since the peak, but never back to 2019 levels.
2. Labor and installation: In Las Vegas, installer rates have gone up almost 40% in the last 5 years. It’s skilled work, and with so much new construction again in the northwest and Henderson, demand is high.
3. Smart homes are now standard: In 2005, less than 1% of window treatments were motorized. In 2026, it’s over 40% of custom orders in Las Vegas. Homeowners want to press a button, use voice control, or have window blinds close automatically in the 110-degree afternoon sun. The motor adds $80-$200 per window, but people see it as essential here, not optional, because it saves on energy bills.
So what does it actually cost today vs. 20 years ago when it comes to blinds Las Vegas products?
- A basic faux-wood blinds - for a standard bedroom window: ∼$70 in 2005, ∼$115-$160 today. Looks better, cordless, but essentially the same product with inflation.
- A full house of plantation shutters, 15 windows: ∼$6,000-$9,000 in 2005, ∼$7,500-$13,500 today. The price has stayed surprisingly flat because manufacturing is more efficient and there is more competition, even though material quality is better.
- A custom roller shade / cellular shade system- with light-filtering fabric, which was a niche luxury product at ∼$300 per window in 2005, is now the most common upgrade. It runs ∼$250-$450 per window installed today, but now often includes cordless and motorization options.
- A fully motorized, smart-home integrated home, 15 windows: This didn’t really exist in 2005. If you wanted it, it was $15,000+. Today it’s $7,000-$12,000 for a very high-end, app-controlled setup.
The Bottom Line When It comes To Las Vegas Window Treatments -
Twenty years ago, window treatments were a cheap commodity or an expensive luxury with nothing in between.
Today, the middle has disappeared in a good way. The entry-level product is safer and better, and the mid-range custom product that makes a home feel expensive and elegant is far more accessible. You are paying more than in 2005, but you are buying light control, energy efficiency, and automation - not just a way to cover glass.
